Having fulfilled my duties from the 5:00 a.m. whistle to the 3:15 p.m.
Executive's blog
that IS the question. Well, that, and, the obvious next question - what shoes do you wear when you DO blog??
What is a blog? I’ve been asked in multiples over the last several months – no way to give a direct answer – a bit of meandering is required. Understanding and accepting community is the foundation that must be first explored. Community is defined by dictionary.com as "a social, religious, occupational, or other group sharing common characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists." Within our various communities – be they physical or virtual - we are comfortable in our co-existence with trusted confidants who share our passions. We talk openly, develop candid, focused relationships and create life nets that support us personally as well as professionally all the while enabling multi-dimensional collaboration.
Quoting Mark Twain, "It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!"
So many wants and desires - so many choices. My wish list continues to accumulate while I exhibit restraint and patience (neither typical behavior patterns). I AM a sole sister on a mission - the perfect Spring shoe to celebrate the season.
I turn page by page in various fashion and footwear industry mags, I surf online tirelessly, I peruse the New York Times. I save files to my Wish List, email pics to my sisters in sole, clip ads, text shoe shots from my random retail hunts. I am shamelessly possessed in my hunt - accompanied by the ache (so beautifully described by Mr. Twain), my sole passion and the knowledge that my sisters in shoes will be there to support and applaud my final decision.
Don't know where the days have gone ....well I do, but to EVEN summarize would be "just exhausting dahrling". As I reflect in uber-detail rewind mode, I appreciate ALL my shuz favz that were pressed into action over the last week through a regimen of various activities which spanned 18-hour days and covered a wide-range of tasks and to do's. My shuz favz, collected with deliberate thought, fashion whimsy and practical utility, brought positive contributions to me every day - fabulous architecture, a variety of texture, extreme vibrancy and stylish mobility, to name but a few.
While these daily benefits were certainly rewarding (along with the verbalized and visual compliments) what I appreciate most about my shuz favz - the gift of reliance. My shuz favz reinforce trust, dependence and confidence - in myself, my sole mate, my family, my partners and my friends. It feels good to rely - don your shuz favz and practice!
I categorized and sorted my way through a "few" days - or is it daze - of accumulated debris and carnage created lovingly in my Home by six feet. To expedite the straightening process, piles of ownership were established.
Remingling my pile took me to the closest with several pairs of shuz faz in hand bringing back the clarity of the week.....
'Nolo - Tired but fulfilled, after almost 13 hours of service yesterday, the classy "go to" Manolo Blahnik black pump with their 4" inch heel, were tucked securely in to rejuvenate. Their solid foundation (albeit, a bit muddy and scuffed from the days wear) took me through car pools, business development meetings, shuzsociety evangelizing, public relations discussions, working lunch and PTO skate night....did I mention gas station, grocery store, fourteen escalator/elevator rides AND over 70 miles of "lead" footing on local highways? Covered ALL of that territory, landed a zillion compliments - 30% with vocals - and DID NOT have sore dogs. Gotta love that!
seems an appropriate question to ask when conducting one's inaugural blog post. Gives me pause to wonder - which pair will become my favorite blogging shoes? Have we met yet?
My days bring many roles - and many pairs of shoes - because I have a favorite (at least for the moment) for every dimension:
Today, February 5, was a slow shoe day ....only three pairs:
shuz favz for car pool - Historic favorite, hands-down, my gray wool felt Stegmann's. Periodically set aside, however, for red crocs or flip flops based on practicality and ease of access. Who moved my shoes?
shuz favz for running - Best EVER running shoe - Mizuno's Wave Creation. My day hardly seems complete unless I get to lace these sole mates up and "take" my exercise.
