july days are super steamy. especially here in the Big D where the sun-soaked pavement heats up the city like heels on a first date. whilst in austin (locals text it "atx") last week I managed a great big ole' country breakfast while listening to texas-bred gospel music. pile on them frijoles, and amen sister!

my bff and i are NOT camera shy. nor are our toes. there's not a pose we won't try. this one, rather lackluster, is our cutesy little feet along the walk back to the car. we're cute. we did the lavern & shirley (am i dating myself?) shuffle and giggled ourselves to tears. we're funny too.





the point of this story? yesterday i had to see a woman about a horse, they say, and i showed up in my favorite gladiator-inspired flops. she asked what i did? and i said "shuz." naturally she looked down at mine. "the girl with the shoes wears flops?" indeed. unapologetically, i like my comfy sandals. in fact i love them. i get myself dressed up when needed and often do. ooooh i'll don the diva shoes. but this summer my uniform has been and will be.... a simple sandal.
