On the heels of Denver’s Democratic National Convention, we’ll address tough questions alongside Barack Obama and other Honorables. Michelle Obama, tonight’s headline prime-time speaker, will have an opportunity to share her story. But I ask you…what will she wear? Down there? Will she step out and wear expensive designer shoes and be blasted like McCain’s choicey Ferragamo loafers?
Blacksnob’s blog has offered a nice e-retrospective, concluding Michelle is of contrast, “Usually political wives are confined to a narrow definition of fashion—pantsuits, suit dresses and things a grandmother from the 1950s would wear.” Other bloggers have noticed her dress (and her shoes!): shoeminx, thebudgetfashionista and the nypost. For fun, we at shuzsociety thought we’d offer her some footwear fashion tips for tonight’s big gig.

Or since peep-toes are a season’s must-have shoe, this patent leather pump with a bow at the toe reveals just the right about her. The 2 ¾” heel will give her a lift, without aching her arches.

Stepping it Up: Should Michelle Obama choose a more daring ruffled blouse, we suggest a pair of shoes that say she’s confident, yet hip. This pair of manly-inspired lace-up oxford by Anna Sui shows she can step with the “boys.” The 3” iridescent heel shows well leaving a room. And the “petrol” hue lets folks know she’s cognizant of today’s key issues.

Appealing to PETA: Yes, showing off her animal-friendly patent pleather booties is a great way to get in good with the politically active herbivores. While at just under seven hundred bills, they’re too steep for the working-class girl; they do show a subtle sensitive side.

Après Speech: Once she’s given her speech, Michelle Obama will want to step out of her “business” attire and into a pair of shoes that shows she supports her hubbie. What better way to do that with a pair of spiffed-up classic Ked’s sneakers? The original Champion is a lace-up canvas sneaker featuring Andy Warhol-inspired Technicolor Obama faces. And at WAAAAY under $100s, they’ll show she’s shoe savvy and price conscious too.
