Shoe Factory RIP

Dear Readers,

So sorry for my absence - life as a shoe designer swept me away across the sea...
Over Cristmas I had a call from an old friend - a shoe factory in the South Bronx - one of the last remaining in the area - had closed. Very sad in many ways.
I used to take students on a field trip there to see shoes made - from the leather to the box. The other sad thing is the loss of a factory that made unusual shoes - quirky - for women. Over the last week I've been able to sort thru hundreds of samples - one of a kind ideas that may have not made it into the line.
I'll be posting photographs of some of the shoes that I found interesting as well as photos of the factory as it sits before the parts are scattered.
