For more than 80 years, Magrit has been making shoes one pair at a time, by hand, in their workshop in Elda, nestled in Spain’s Alicante region. Haven’t heard of them? They produce and distribute nearly 200,000 shoes a year to parts of Europe, Asia and the United States.
The Magrit collection is based on a few distinct lines: Elegant loafers with 3 and 6 cm heels; pastel colors ranging from cream and some African tones; materials include Moroccan leather, suedes with a metallic look and snake. Sandals for street- and evening-wear with heels between 5 and 8 cm, with extremely low necks or elaborate straps using metallic leathers and Moroccan leather. “17763″ is a colorful representation, and available through Magrit’s site.
Magrit also offers updated espadrilles with a sophisticated cut, more like high-heeled sandals, very elaborate with a jute wedge heel. “17668″ brown leather with platinum snake strap, on 9 cm heel.
Ballerinas and “saquettos” have extended Magrit’s traditional flats and kitten-heel line to bring a new type of comfort with their refined toes and flat heels. “We are very satisfied with them because we feel we can offer our customer base something really new.”

J Shoes in the news…

Sauntering through Austin’s The Domain—our latest shopping destination—for a little spring fling (retail-therapy, folks!), I peeked into Martin + Osa for some casual eye-candy. They carry a tight collection of nicely-appointed leather shoes, one such designer being J Shoes ~ “with a practical approach to fit and fashion.”
With boots hovering around the $200 mark, check out their Furlong in Stone/Grey combo (dreamy!) and sandals around $100, you’ll not only step out in casual style, but be able to step a LONG way… Their “Estelle” tri-colored tan gladiator, with the saucy rear zipper, will make you finally bust out and slip into a pair of what seemed a tired trend. Maybe you fancy the Copper/Sea Blue combo?
Anywho, while surfing J Shoes’ blog, which they update not-every-day but quite regularly, I noticed a nod to British indie rock band, Athlete. J Shoes helped outfit the band for their “Black Swan” album press junket. And since Austin has been hosting SXSW for 23 years, and it’s happening THIS WEEK, I thought for sure Athlete would be here! AND THEY ARE.
Did you know, you can now shop for your favorite shoes—just click on “shop” and enter in your favorite designer—they might just be J Shoes—on our new shuzsociety.tv? Check this out… Happy walking!

Tthe wicked “OE0002″ profile…shows off the 1 3/4″ platform.

This week shuzsociety offers up some eye-candy for the gents: Magnanni. ‘Cause every girl crazy ’bout a sharp-dressed man!
The Spanish-based shoe company has been in the (family) business for more than a half a decade, and making drool-worthy shoes for gents. The original vision of Sebastián Blanco Aldomar, who started working in Spanish shoe factories at the age of 12 then opened his own company, is alive today in their finely-crafted leather shoes… from Contemporary lace-ups like the “Basilio.”
To the sleek sophistication of the suede wing-tipped lace-up.
And the classic Nappa-leather lace-up “Lorca.”
With Magnanni you get sophistication and quality, as ““every facet of this 3rd generation business is overseen by a family member.” (You can see them in the video!) Which ever one—of the more than 300 lasts—your man dons, he’s sure to step-out in true Don Juan fashion.
The Bachelor’s Vienna in gold heels…

Ok, I admit, Stephinitely was front-row watching the finalé of ABC’s The Bachelor, albeit alone! Let’s call it “fashion research” shall we? While I’m now hard-pressed to find anything about her shoes online, she donned a very beautiful Carmen Marc Valvo single-shouldered flowing gown. And it was pretty.
If memory serves (and don’t fault ME if it doesn’t because I’m simply having fun here), she sauntered toward him in a gold T-strap sandal… so, in honor of the happy couple… I’ve pulled together a few other steamy shoes worthy of any St Lucia stroll. First, a lady could not go wrong in a pair of vintage-inspired peep-toe pumps by Sergio Rossi. Style: A03541. Perhaps instead of the FIVE cars her Daddy has purchased, she’d rather take these Lime-colored snake-skin platforms for a spin. $999 at Zappos.com.
A pair of woven bird-cage platforms by Moschino, Style: CA1627BC0R, could be very forgiving for anyone trying to get extra mileage out of their pedi. I’m just sayin’. $604.00 at Zappos.com.
A pair of tri-colored daniblack “Romie” sandals would allow Vienna to graduate from Daddy’s “Little Princess” to status of “modern goddess.” $192 at Zappos.com.
And because Vienna is known as the naughty girl, a pair of “Decked Out 2″ suede platforms by Naughty Monkey. The printed-skin wrapped platform is gonna be smokin’ in the Big D! $79.94 at Zappos.com.
Last but not least, Vienna will need a pair of $#it-kicking heels for her nights in Dallas’ Honky-tonks…How about a pair from another blonde linked to Dallas? Jessica Simpson’s “Koolia” sandal is a fun boot-hybrid. Flashy! And the front-zip provides EASY access. Teehee. $89.99 at Heels.com.

Chie Mihara, the Alicante-based shoe designer born in Brazil to Japanese parents, has been turning heads for years. Her shoes are beautiful to look at… and simply wonderful to wear. Nestled quietly among the shelves at Anthropologie, her use of supple leathers, combined with elegant and purposeful design, make her a favorite among bloggers and fashionistas alike.
We’ve pulled a few of our favorites to wet your whistle… The “Emozine” updated Mary Jane in Leche ruched leather with tan strap, on stacked 3″ heel. $370 at Piperlime.com.
Ruffled-cuff sandal in Falco taupe with covered cone heel, the “Kaida” is at once pretty… and pretty stunning and would pair well with any smart dress of the season. $410 at Piperlime.com.
The “Wonton” geometric toe-ring flat also boasts an adjustable ankle strap and is offered in a delicate peach. $345 at Shopbop.com.
The sling-back “Frieda” combines a soft pastel color palette of cream, olive and peach, with a cushioned insole and covered 2″ heel to create a spectacle of functionality and classic design. $316.95 at Shoebuy.com.

KORS Michael Kors “Aubrey” $295 at Zappos.com.
Cancer
June 22 – July 22
Financial matters have been frustrating. You may have felt as though you have one foot on the gas pedal and the other on the brake when it comes to your income. This month, you’ll notice improvement; things will begin to move, at long last. The only rub in all this is that you might have a major expense that aggravates you. Realize that you’re in the final stretch of this cash flow war. In the end, you’ll win.
Footwear forecast for Cancer: Tight on cash, but high on style in Jessica Simpson.
Jessica Simpson “Alexandra” $88.95 at Zappos.com.
Leo
July 23 – August 22
Have you felt stuck in a rut? Low energy? Not your “usual” flamboyant, magnanimous self? Well there’s great news – the cosmic energy responsible for your personal lull will now disappear! You’ll be in an exceptional position by the middle of the month to forge ahead with new personal projects. You’ll feel energized and ambitious and will want to take the lead again. In short, you’ll be back to normal – but with a kick!

In fact, you’ll be rewarded for all the diligent planning you have done since December 2009. The rewards you’ll reap will be in direct proportion to the energy you put into things now. Go for it!

Your ability to push forward in a crucial investment matter will finally be revived. It’s possible that you’ve met with some frustrations or resistance in a financial matter that had nothing to do with income you earn, but rather a source of income that comes from another place. It could be an investment, royalties, a loan or venture capital. Whatever the case, things have been stalled since late December. Thankfully, that phase will be over.
