Revisiting Georgina Goodman
Fall 2008:
Georgina Goodman’s Autumn/Winter 08 collection has evolved to another level and pushes the boundaries of color (glamorous purples, vibrant reds and pumpkin hues) and it’s use of it. With a sensual mix of texture, hand tinted pony skin and mottled metallic patent meeting nubuck snakeskin and glove leather. Goodman sums up the fall with three simple words: Touch. Passion. Drama.
The best shoe of the season:
The Fallon in purple has been the season’s run-away shoe. Iconic, electric, and demanding attention, Fallon remains gently magnetic and alluring. A definite statement shoe in cutout suede and patent leather, Fallon is easy to wear and looks as comfortable with denim as she does with a couture dress. “She also comes in a cool urban dove grey and a black on black evening knockout,” offers BJ Cunningham, director of Georgina Goodman Limited. (We love it when designers refer to their creations with “she” and “her.”).

Spring 09:
With spring around the corner, Goodman tells us about The ‘It’ Shoe. “There has been a general trend towards women looking for extraordinary (extra-ordinary) shoes rather than the statement bag.” And as such, buyers are reaching into Goodman’s collection to provide the ‘It’ shoe for their floors. They are looking for high impact, unique design and they are going to get IT with her Love Illusion line.

SS09 builds on the theme of ‘Illusion’. For Goodman, this is about clean, sculptural forms, electric colours and magnetic silhouettes, organic flow, wave shapes and shifting perceptions. It is about seeing the illusion and being in command of it.
Key Styles for SS09:
“The Helena with her sculptural butterfly device have been a shoe of choice in this regard,” adds Cunningham. And fluorescent is a big deal for spring. “A flash of electric color in florescent patent was picked up as a highlight by many of our Clients.” The Hilda in fuchsia patent with cutout toe and slight platform begs to be noticed.
You’ll also want to keep your eye out for Nyla, in black and platinum, an intertwined work of art sitting atop a platform sole and sculpted heel.

Natalia with her Swarovski shimmer, takes the shape of Nyla but turns up the appeal… big time! Here in black, it also was created in a champagne silver that’s impossible to overlook.

The Scarf Shoe:
“Our Piccadilly shoe (Hand Made in Mayfair) has been very well picked up by the more fashion forward stores. The hand rolled and stitched scarf is also available as a straight 90 cm square scarf and Piccadilly is available in all of the scarf color ways.”
Goodman on the catwalk:
We created a similar shoe for Erdem (named by TheFashionTime as one of the top 5 London shows) for his catwalk collection for SS09. The shoe incorporates the Georgina Goodman silk hand printed scarf as an ankle strap and reflects the softer mood of many of the more directional Catwalk shows of the season. Goodman also created the SS09 catwalk shoes for Luella.
Old Bond Street Location:
Spring/Summer of 08, Goodman and team welcomed their flagship store on Old Bond Street, London. The store looks as delightful as her collections, and has captured the attention of the likes of Kylie Minogue.
Branding—Made in Love:
All Georgina Goodman shoes carry the mark ‘MADE IN LOVE’ as well as the production point of origin on the sole of the shoe. This serves to communicate the core values of the business.
