Born in New York, Eileen Shields grew up in Dublin, Ireland, and graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. She has been living and working in New York since 1988 and was, for more than a decade, footwear designer for Donna Karan. Eileen was a key player in launching and building the DKNY footwear line, including Men's and Women's, and was responsible for the innovative D by DKNY line, nominated for Best New Line at the VH1 Fashion Awards.
The EILEEN SHIELDS label is a transatlantic venture - Eileen opened her own flagship store and gallery, '5 Scarlet Row' in the Old City district of Dublin in September 2004. 5 Scarlet Row was created in collaboration with renowned curator/gallerist Vaari Claffey and is the flagship store to showcase the entire EILEEN SHIELDS collection. Her collections have received highly favorable press including features in British Vogue, Elle Magazine, Nylon, Oprah, and Real Simple among many others. Shield was also named "One of Our Favorite New Faces in Fashion" by Lucky Magazine. Her designs have been seen on many celebrities such as Halle Berry, Eva Longoria, Samantha Morton, Courtney Cox Arquette, Drew Barrymore and Andie MacDowell.
