Thanks…
Dr. Sole
Hello ladies, welcome to my web column, “Ask Dr. Sole.” This is where I answer all your questions about men, dating, and shoes. I’m Donna Sozio, author of Never Trust a Man in Alligator Loafers: What His Shoes Really Say About his True Love Potential.
In my book, I teach women to trust their “inner sole” instincts by reading a man by his shoes to see if he’s good dating material. I also teach men how to put their best foot forward.
Donna Sozio is the author of hit dating book Never Trust a Man in Alligator Loafers: What his Shoes Really Say About his True Love Potential.

Millions have seen her perform her signature Shoe Personality Predictions on The Tyra Banks Show, Early Show, Fox 5 News and read her Ask Dr. Sole weekly web column. www.DonnaSozio.com.
Previous “Ask Dr. Sole” columns:
I’m just starting to get into Soleology…so I would love to know if you think I’m on track or not. In my opinion, the brand of the shoe is not the most important thing to look at because you might not always be able to tell…at least I wouldn’t be able to. I would prefer them to be more expensive because I think that’s classy but I assume the basic style and condition are more important?
If a guy has several different types of shoes (tevas, work & bad weather boots, nice-black-lace-up-pumas) that he wears frequently does that mean he is fickle or just sensible?
Do the shoes that a guy wears to work matter? If he has to wear a shirt and tie or a suit then he doesn’t really have many options for shoes. He could have the ugliest, smelly shoes at home that he puts on right after work. Is the type of shoe a guy wears to work an accurate depiction of his sole?
Thanks and I love the whole idea! Hopefully it will make my life much simpler.
From,
Sole Curious

Designer Spotlight: Bettye Muller

“My shoes are like Hitchcock Blondes. Like Kim Novak and Grace Kelly, they have a distinct look that is mysterious and beautiful. Each one tells a story” — Bettye Muller
shuzsociety had the chance to catch up with the creative Bettye Muller to allow us a peek into her interesting life. Always with a smile on her face, Bettye’s demeanor and positive outlook mirrors her collections.
shuzsociety: What is your design philosophy?
Bettye: Fun, easy dress-sport. My collection is classic with a twist, and lots of colors and fabrics.
shuzsociety: What are you most enthusiastic about for spring 2009?
Bettye:Espadrilles and lots of fun sport casuals.
shuzsociety: Tell us about your fall 2009 collection. What were your inspirations?
Bettye: Kim Basinger 80’s – Ozbek, Gigli, Hamnett Montana, Frances Bacon, Rothko, opulent colors, high up front, and strappy.
shuzsociety: Which celebrity or political figure do you envision wearing your shoes?
Bettye: Michelle Obama
shuzsociety: Are you supporting a specific charity or cause?
Bettye: Yes … Shoe Frenzy, QVC Shoes on Sale and Shoes & Champagne
shuzsociety: What are you reading right now?
Bettye: “Bad Girls Go Everywhere: The Life of Helen Gurley Brown” by Jennifer Scanlon.
shuzsociety: What is YOUR personal favorite pair of shoes?
Bettye: That’s a tough call…I have so many favorites!
shuzsociety: How do you pack your shoes for travel? Tips?
Bettye: I pack my shoes in plastic bags from Uline. They make the perfect size!
shuzsociety: What is your favorite vacation spot? And why!
Bettye: Japan. It has the very best shopping and has the very best saunas and spas.
With a collection of vintage designer shoes that once exceeded 500 pairs, Bettye Muller is what you might call a connoisseur- though, she didn’t always realize footwear was her specialty. Instead, the New York native spent her early years as a competitive ice skater and ice skating instructor, graphic designer, shoe model and soap opera actress before she created her first small collection of shoes while living in London in the 1980s.
When she returned to the States, Bettye designed shoes for labels including L’Emporio, Henri Bendel, Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis and Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy before taking her professional pursuits to Miami, Florida. She eventually returned home to New York City and in 1998 started her own label with just a handful of styles.
Today, her 60-piece collection is informed by her love of luxurious fabrics as well as experiences living abroad in England and Italy and travels to the Far East, and Central and South America. In styles that range from 50s modern to 20s and earlier, Bettye Muller shoes are vivid, pretty and as colorful as the designer’s own eclectic tastes. Inspired by vintage fabrics and intense colors such as Bordeaux, granny apple and tangerine, her collections create a sense of fantasy for women. “My shoes are like Hitchcock Blondes. Like Kim Novak and Grace Kelly, they have a distinct look that is mysterious and beautiful. Each one tells a story,” Bettye says with smile.
Since they’re unique, her shoes aren’t for just anyone. Attracting modern-day blondes from Katie Couric to Cameron Diaz, the artist says that women who wear her pieces must have a great sense of self and a distinct style. “They’re a statement, so the women who wear them must be very confident,” she says.
Mirroring the designer’s individuality, the beauty of her Italian-made pieces lies in the details: faux fur-lined interiors, vintage brocades and vibrant beaded accents are just a few special touches that distinguish her footwear. “They’re original, and I always want to keep them that way,” Bettye explains.
But no matter where Bettye’s design inspiration takes her, some things will remain consistent about her shoes: they will be sophisticated and feminine, stylish and fun- and always unexpected.
Where can you find Bettye Muller’s collections? Here are some of our faves…

“WOW!!! I am SOOO excited I can hardly stand it!! To top it all off -the April 3rd winner,Marian Green is a friend of mine (we met working at the same clothing boutique) and our love of fabulous shoes and bags is what brought us together as friends and “sole sisters”! Plus the fact that we live in Montana which does not have much designer shoe shopping available makes the winning these fabulous shoes all the more special!!” exclaimed Joni Campbell (aka “JBug59″).
About our “fab” winner …
shuzsociety: Why do I love these shoes?
JBug 59: These shoes are feminine, sophisticated and stylish. The peep toe and subtle gloss of the patent leather are perfect for spring!
shuzsociety: If you could design the perfect pair of shoes, what features would they have?
JBug 59: They would need to be classic with a touch of “bling” or a fun color to make statement. A shoe that can be dressed up or down and comfortable enough to wear all day!
shuzsociety: Who is your favorite shoe designer?
JBug 59: I love the classic styles of Christian Louboutin – who can resist that iconic red sole! I’m also intrigued by the innovative designs of Proenza Schouler and his unique architectural heel.
shuzsociety: What shoe trend would you like to see disappear?
JBug 59: As a lover of a wide variety of shoes – it’s hard to say… But “garden or yard clogs” need to stay in the garden and not be out and about on the town!
shuzsociety: What is your most favorite shoe style of all time?
JBug 59: It is difficult to pick a favorite style. I enjoy everything from a fun colored flip flop to a great pair of boots, but you cannot go wrong by investing in a fabulous pair of black leather pumps!
Looks like you and Marian might have to start your own shuzsociety “fab friday” winners club in Billings, Montana. It will give you a good reason to show off your gorgeous new shoes! Congratulation!!

ANANAS SPA TIP OF THE MONTH FOR APRIL -ENDERMOLOGIE AND LIPOMASSAGE
For many, bathing suit weather is just weeks away. Are you ready? Ananas Spa can help you prepare with a scientifically proven system of endermologie and lipomassage. Both were created by the French who know a thing or two about bodies, and are not only efficacious but beneficial.
Endermologie is the overall treatment for your body, lipomassage targets problem areas that you want to tackle. Both will make you look and feel your best.
These forms of massage are performed while you wear a specially designed opaque white bodysuit for ease of movement with our state of the art machine. The massage does so much to improve circulation that professional athletes frequently use it to speed healing after an injury. You will find that the relaxing rhythm of the rollers invigorates you as no traditional massage can.
What you are required to do is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. You should increase the number of glasses of water you drink to at least 8, 10 is even better. AND come to Ananas Spa and sign up for a series of 12 sessions (some people require more, some less) with our expert aestheticians who will help minimize the appearance of those orange-peelly bumps on your tummy, hips and thighs.
So April at Ananas is an opportunity to get started. Visit our website to see our April SPECIALS and begin your endermologie experience.
